in the can: daydream, one alone, hardly wait. (unless jen really wants to redo the choruses...they sound pretty fucking sweet tho)

album status: 50% done.

i gotta give it up to the nazis.

they left such an evil legacy that we have made brilliant games out of justifiably killing them.

i love call of duty!

DIE BUNKER NAZIS!

HEY!

ok, so i got halo 3 and co-op mode is pretty awesome. also, i finished a bunch more music. daydream needs a tiny bit of tweaking, and then 2/6 songs are COMPLETELY done. awesome.

anywho, this just popped in my head.

so those of you that know me pretty well know that my second favorite genre of movie is post-apocolyptic.

my first favorite is man hunting man, a la "the most dangerous game." there have been a shit ton of these movies made (wasn't there even one with adrienne barbeau?) and i've seen a LOT of them, but i have the world's worst memory. so what are the names of these movies, so that i may build a collection?

ones i know of:
hard target
the most dangerous game
the naked prey
surviving the game

(told you, i have shitty memory)

so what other ones are out there? i don't care if they're good, or have ice t in em, or whatever, what are they?

-got a 360. haven't set up xbox live yet, as i have to set up the wifi router thinger. bitch that it costs extra, but online stuff will be totes cool. we got these games: call of duty 2 (i love WWII), operation darkness (which alix picked out - it looks pretty cool tho! nice little zombie/nazi/ww2 tactics RPG thinger.), fable (since i never had an xbox and it was only $10 new), elder scrolls oblivion (haven't checked it out yet tho), and BIOSHOCK. holy CRAP that game is gorgeous. and it freaks me the fuck out. i've only played like 20 minutes, but i'm all twitchy now. we also got a pink controller for alix, but i kinda like it better than the black one. what other games should we keep an eye out for? i'm anxiously awaiting fable 2, ghostbusters, ffXIII, and rock band 2, even tho it means i will have to sell my wii kit.

-recorded vocals on monster and hardly wait, which makes me 1/2 done with the nic n dave album, vocally. two more to pound out tomorrow and i'll have another song completely in the can (daydream. one alone has been done a while now) and that puts the album pretty near done.

-for the newer stuff, recorded bass and guitar on paper dolls and SIA. will do history tomorrow, using derrick's very cool bassline. that puts THAT album at about 1/3 done, musically.

-me and my better (and by better, i mean prettier) half are gonna watch some xfiles.

-yay!

Wed, Jul. 16th, 2008, 09:27 am

show tonight at club underground.

i am feeling 31 flavors of awful at the moment, so hopefully i will live through the day and we can show off our new bass player.

i am also thinking about getting a 360. PS3 supporters - defend your system!

Mon, Jul. 14th, 2008, 10:38 am

-hellboy II was completely awesometastic. leaps and bounds an improvement over the first.

-we have a show wednsday with beastface. come!

-i will be recording this weekend...might finish up most of in vitro mutilation...finally. daydream is one vocal take shy of done, and then i need 2 bass tracks and one guitar track. getting there...plan on at least getting my vocals done for daydream, monster, hardly wait, and maybe the whiskey song, if i get ambitious. might do castle or paper dolls on the new stuff...

-work on the NEXT album is progressing as well. we currently have 9 tracks in various states of completion. i plan on getting a lot of guitar and bass work done this weekend. might get started on a remake of another old thos track, "try."

-been working my way through x-files with alix. good shit. we're on season 2 only, but its cool to rewatch some of the earlier stuff and see just how quickly moulder and scully's relationship forms. scully just got abducted, so we are none too far in yet...

-thats about it. oh, and batman is going to rule.

an answer to the question "hey, adam, why do you love the comics curmudgeon so much?" could be found in the following sentence: "The Family Circus has a long list of crimes that it will eventually have to answer for"

SHOWWW!

ok, so we've got a new bass player, derrick sanders, aka drok vox, aka vagina face. cora left to pursue other interests. (of the phallic variety, methinks). we have our first show coming up soon. like, week and a half. here are some details:

wed, july 16 at 9pm. club underground (so...21+, $5)
thosquanta (i would guess we're on first...)
promaeta
guzzlemug
beastface

beastface is kicking off their tour this night. i haven't heard the other two bands, but i checked out beastface on the ole myspace and i approve.

come see us stumble through the new lineup!

thosquanta: we've had more bass players than metallica.

FOR SALE:

for sale:

anything that belongs to shawno or cora.

cost: whatever they're short this month, and every future month, for rent.

seems fair to me, as i've had to track down money for EVERY BILL THAT HAS EVER BEEN DUE.

Tue, Jul. 1st, 2008, 09:49 am

things i own that are missing:

-hero, the import dvd that erin got me from san fran. i think i drunkenly lent this to someone and have forgotten whom.

-"blood sugar," nicole blackman's poetry book. again, drunkenly lent it to someone.

this makes me sad.

Thu, Jun. 26th, 2008, 01:03 pm

hey, sweet.

the supreme court just upheld the second amendment applies to individuals.

how in the hell some people read "...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." to mean we should legally ban guns is beyond my understanding.

stupid liberals.

turtle lovin

i had a pretty fantastic weekend. friday night, alix came over and we grilled some tasty black angus burgers. then jen and ryan came over and we drank some beers and played mario party. i managed to barely eke out third place, which i was happy about.

saturday, we went to the fetus for their 40 year aniversary. i got black flag's 'damaged' and the new ladytron. the new ladytron blows away anything else they've ever done, hands down. and black flag is, of course, black flag. then we went to a gothling picnic, which was also pretty fun. even got to ogle some 15 year olds or whatever. after picnic, we went and had some sushi and then went to visit nic n kris for a couple drinks and hanging out. i got nic's tracks for 'hardly wait,' which i will likely mix tonite. the album is actually getting pretty close now!

sunday started mediocre, with the now ex-roomie from crazytown getting the last of her shit. but, it went smoothly and quickly, so that was stress-free. (i didn't lift a finger or anything, so there couldn't be THAT much stress anyways) tony, liza, and bruno called on their way home from sconnie, and wanted a bbq. so they came over, along with alix, cora, and burny, and we all ate some tasty charcoal-cooked foodstuffs and drank some beers. then alix and i watched the new venture brothers, the end!

we have a grill!

Tue, Jun. 10th, 2008, 10:21 am

bit slow while i wait for some other stuff to get done...

so heres some tv shows i like right now.

lost - yeah, everyone loves it. in a strange twist, i tend to identify with locke, the "faith" side of the faith vs. reason tag team on the show. i love the holy shit moments, which don't happen all that often, but they still kick ass. is there anyone on that show that doesn't have daddy issues? alix loves to annoy me by announcing that she totally saw every plot twist coming just coz shes read the dark tower books, but she refuses to try to predict anything out loud. only in retrospect. jerk. i am very much looking forward to watching season 4. what the fuck was up with the s 3 cliffhanger? i guess i'll find out.

bsg - again, everyone loves it. jen and i have had long conversations about kat vs. starbuck. jen wants to beat the shit out of kat (for good reason) but the more i think about it the more i realize that they are EXACTLY the same. but i still love starbuck and i still hate kat. i just finished 2.5, and found the ending a bit anticlimactic, since i knew about the occupation thing anyways. still good, i shall see how s 3 turns out.

bones - this show SHOULD suck. its yet ANOTHER procedural show and david boreanaz, for as much as i dig buffy and angel, is not the exactly best actor. but his woodenness totally works for this show. plus, angela is way way cute. and i still absolutely love bones' catchphrase of "ok, i don't know what that means, but..." as she has 0 understanding of anything pop-culture related. plus, billy gibbons as angela's dad is GENIUS.

30 rock - i've still only seen the first season, but i've rewatched the hell out of it and its still funny. tina fey is hot and hilarious and tracy morgan has some of the best non-sequiter lines ever. live every week like its shark week, indeed, sir.

house - this is alix's favorite show and she forced me into it, but damned if it isn't awesome. the medical mystery trial-and-error, almost kill the patient, then fix at last minute shtick gets a little old, but watching house interact with the normal clinic patients is what makes the show for me. hes such a dick. i love dicks. (har!)

venture brothers - this show is smarter than some of the other ones on this list, and its a motherfuckin adult swim cartoon. man, i love dr henry killinger and his magic murder bag. this is the best show thats ever been on adult swim, hands-down. its an obvious logical extension of what the tick would have been if not boxed into a saturday morning format. it seems obvious to me the the same writers who came up with character names like sarcastro and baby boom orangutan also came up with molotov cocktease. also, bowies henchmen are klaus nomi and iggy pop? BRILLIANT!

dr who - alix and i have been watching this as well. i loved the first season doctor (#9?) and am beginning to like the second season one a bit more. its hard to separate him from his barty crouch jr tho, so i am SUPPOSED to hate him as a potter fan, i guess. i am looking forward to the kylie minogue cameo. i am also slowly figuring out that rose is, in fact, not an idiot. the doctor is just as foolish and she saves him as much as he saves her.

and, coz blueeyeddickweed made some post about how he hated it, i've been trying to put into words exactly why firefly is such a good show. i think a large part of it is the moral ambiguity - something explored in buffy as well. this could only come from an atheistic mindset like whedon's. captain mal is good guy....sort of. its summed up fairly well in the sword fighting scene. or in the pilot, where a truly bad guy (badger) spits on mal, and mal essentially takes it. any other series would NEVER allow the protagonist to lose to a malevolent little shit, but firefly explores more what happens to the put-upon, losing end of a civil war. i love that. i've heard it summed up as the other side of the star trek ideal - what happens if you don't WANT to join the federation? the character dichotomy is a bit more obvious in other characters - inara is a refined whore, book is a fist-fighting priest, but mal as a flexible man with ethical absolutes offers an interesting paradox. plus, there are some hot chicks on that show.

the weekend

-friday: relaxed, mostly. played some lego indy. review should be up tomorrow, maybe? i really dig it, but i loved the hell outta the star wars ones as well. Then i relaxed and wrote a couple new basslines for tracks. one i've been tinkering with a while, so we will see how it goes.

-show saturday went exceedingly well. its a HELL of a lotta fun playing with live drums. Tony did even better on stage than he has in practice and jen and i have been getting better and better with the vocals. fun, fun times. oh, and i think nic was amused by my "guitar solo" during cowboy. thanks to juli for having us play! we even sold a few discs, which is normally unfuckingheard of at a bar setting in town. radicool. course, i entirely forgot that i had my video camera with me, so we didn't get any usable footage of the first show. ah, well.

-sunday, alix and i just relaxed and hung out. made some breakfast sammiches, and then later cooked on the grill. salmon. yum! we watched cartoons all night, because cartoons are awesome. then we watched some season 3 of weeds. man, i love that show. i think i kept waking her up from laughing at some parts. ah, well.

-no shows for the band lined up right now, i want to finish up this next album ASAP. nic and dave have 2 tracks each to record, i think, and then we have a whole truckload o vocals to do. shouldn't be too hard tho. me, jen, and a case o beer tend to get shit done in a hurry...
